The Dongola Ranch Hotel is situated on a 4,500 ha game ranch right next door to Mapungubwe National Park and offers luxury campsites each with its own little lapa consisting of a toilet, bath, shower and small kitchen.

The unique way the campsites are laid out in circles ensures that you wont feel crowded even if the camp is full.
You will also find campsites where you can park your entire caravan under a lapa!
Personally, I cannot think of any other resort that offers such luxurious African safari campsites.
There are no fences around the caravan park so the game freely enter and grazes on the lawns between the campsites.

During dry seasons the management supplies extra feed for the animals quite close to the camping area.
You can take your camping chair and enjoy a sundowner while watching Rhino's, Kudu's, Impala and other African wildlife feed.
If you are not into camping you can always stay in the luxurious lodge or chalets...

Nearby Attractions: You can use this lovely African safari campsite as your base to visit nearby Mapungubwe National Park although Mapungubwe now also has a small campsite with 10 stands...
Directions: Take the N1 north from Johannesburg or Pretoria. Travel roughly 520km from Johannesburg until you reach Messina or Musina as it is called nowadays. Drive through the town and turn left on the R572
You will reach your destination on your right hand side after approximately 43km.
Alternate Route: Alternatively you can exit from the N1 onto the R521 at Pietersburg or Polokwane as it is now named.
This quiet back road will take you through the bushveld to Alldays where you keep right on the R521. After approximately 46 km turn right on the R572.
You will reach your destination on your left after approximately another 46 km.
Also note the turnoff to Mapungubwe on the way. This is a must visit while you are in the area.
