Vilanculos

The Gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago...

Vilanculos is quite a large town and has an airport which makes it convenient for tourists to fly in and then cross over to the luxury Safari Lodges on the Bazaruto Archipelago.

The closest island in the archipelago is Benguerra which is a mere 12 km from the mainland.

The island Bazaruto, from which the chain of islands derives it's name, is approximately 30 km's away.

There are a number of accommodation options ranging from camping to backpackers to luxury lodges.

Unfortunately, the town is still showing some of the ravages of the last cyclones that passed through. This however, does not detract from the lovely beaches, blue water and tropical setting...

Vilanculos,African Safari Photos,Mozambique,Bazaruto Quite interesting is the number of Boabab trees growing this close to the ocean.
