The Augrabies Falls National Park camping site is a short walk away from the main falls.
This is certainly one of nature's wonders and one can spend hours simply watching the river transformed into white foam as it tumbles with incredible force into the Augrabies Gorge.
There are several walkways and viewpoints within easy reach from the rest camp where the falls can be viewed.
There are also short hiking trails that can be done from the rest camp.
The camping grounds are situated among trees, some of which were rescued and planted in the rest camp after being washed down the river.
Sitting back and relaxing at the end of the day in front of your campfire you are always aware of the muted roar of the river and falls in the background.
…numbs your mind as you stand in awe watching the spectacular waterfall.
Depending on the level of the river even more waterfalls appear as the river overflows its banks and finds new channels to spill into the gorge.
When the river is in flood the narrow gorge becomes one huge terrifying maelstrom that defies all comprehension and imagination
